Turning Point Of Life (Part 2)

Luke 5:27-32, 14:16-24

After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. "Follow me," Jesus said to him, and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.
~Luke 5:27-28 (NIV)

1. Levi invited his friends to meet Jesus
“Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them.” ~Luke 5:29 (NIV)

Excuses for not coming:
Jesus replied: "A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, 'Come, for everything is now ready.' "But they all alike began to make excuses….” ~Luke 14:16-18 (NIV)

"Then the master told his servant, 'Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full. I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.'"
~Luke 14:23-24 (NIV)

2. Levi enabled his friends to hear the gospel
But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
~Luke 5:30-31 (NIV)

3. Levi used his writing skill.
“and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.” ~Luke 5:27-28 (NIV)

Levi did not leave everything to follow Jesus. He took his pen with him.
