A Heart For Others (Part 1)
Rev. James Wong
1. Andrew Brought His Brother To Jesus
We often find it difficult to share Christ with our family members. Is it because we do not have a good and caring relationship with them? Friendship, not blood relations, defines real relationships.
40 Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus. ~John 1:40-42 (NIV)
2. Andrew Brought A Small Boy To Jesus
Andrew knew that Jesus wanted to feed the crowd. He was proactive and spotted a small boy with food and brought him to Jesus. With the offering of the small boy Jesus fed the 5,000.
8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, 9 "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?" ~John 6:8-9 (NIV)
3. Andrew Brought The Greeks To Jesus
When Andrew brought the Greeks to Jesus, he was able to talk about the significance of following him and says that God will honor those who serves Him.
20 Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the Feast. 21 They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. "Sir," they said, "we would like to see Jesus." 22 Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus. ~John 12:20-22 (NIV)
Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. ~John 12:26 (NIV)
